Anti - Discrimination Policy
The anti-discrimination policy for DATASR Electronics consists of 5 acts.These acts are as follows; Age Discrimination Act, Disability Discrimination Act, Racial Discrimination Act, Sex Discrimination Act and Australian Human Rights Commission Act. These acts ensure the health and safety. The Age Discrimination policy covers discrimination to people because of their age group. The Disability Discrimination Act is an act in place to show that there is no discrimination against people with a disability. THe Racial Discrimination Act is in place to make sure that people are not being discriminated against because of their place of birth or because of their origin. The Sex Discrimination Act is to ensure that people are not being discriminated against because of their sexual orientation. And the Australian Human Rights Commission Act is in place to ensure that people have equal rights as everyone else. These acts all come with different consequences if they are disobeyed.

WHS
Employer Responsibilities:
There are certain things that an employer must provide in the workplace, these include:
- Properly orientate, train and supervise staff to ensure work practices are understood and followed by employees.
- Consult with the employees on decisions the affect safety in the workplace.
- Provide PPE so workers are safe.
- Regularly check and update WHS systems and procedures
- Provide adequate facilities for welfare of employees.
- Conduct risk assessments on premises and procedures.
- Be aware of employes legal obligations under NSW WHS act 2012.
Employee Responsibilities:
There are also a number of things and employee must provide, these include:
- Work safely to protect themselves and others from injury and follow WHS instructions.
- Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
- Follow safe working procedures.
- Not interfere with or misuse anything provided by the employer to keep the workplace safe.
- Not behave in a way that puts themselves or others at risk.
- Report and WHS issues, including hazards, illnesses, or near misses.
- Respond to any request to provide assistance or first aid to an injured person at work.
Physical Hazards:
Physical Hazards can involve electricity, noise, temperature, lighting, radiation and vibration. A common physical hazard is lighting, long periods of working with fine writing in dim light can cause severe eye strain. Another common Physical hazard is OOS (Occupational Overuse Syndrome), this can be the result from placing yourself in an incorrect position while using your computer. Ergonomics, which is the study of workplace hazards can teach you the right way to use a computer and possibly prevent you from accumulating such injuries.
Chemical Hazards:
Chemical Hazards involve substances that can harm ones health through the breathing in of the substance, absorption through the skin or any kind of irritation on the surface of the skin. Examples of this include, Cigarette smoke, Asbestos fibers, Pesticides, Toners and o-zone. If you think there is a safety risk regarding chemicals, contact your OH&S Supervisor immediately. You may be able to prevent an injury.
Behavioural Hazards:
Behavioral Hazards can include Bullying, Harassment (Both sexual and Psychological). If any form of Bullying or Harassment occurs you should contact your Boss immediately. If the matter is not resolved, you may contact someone higher up (e.g. Area Manager, Regional Manager etc).
How to Avoid Hazards:
There are simple ways in which hazards can be avoided in the workplace, these include:
- Ensuring you have the correct posture while working at a computer station
- Ensuring that there is no glare from your computer screen. Extended periods of glare can damage the eye.
- When working with chemicals we weary of any spills, always follow safety instructions and wear protective clothing when needed.
- When lifting heavy boxes, ensure that you bend your knees, keep a straight back and put both hands under the object.
- Do not play practical jokes that pose any sort of risk or may harm someone.
- Always read safety instructions
- Ensure all fire exits are clear from clutter and are not obstructed in any way.
- Ensure a fire safety procedure is in place and all staff know what to do if there is a fire.
- Ensure you have a good amount of sleep. Sleep deprivation may lead to accidents.
- Ensure you or your employees are not under a relentless amount of stress. This can be because of high workloads, Personal pressures, Shift work, etc.
